Background
Christopher Hillier founded Expand Benefits with a clear belief: employers deserve an independent benefits advisor whose interests are fully aligned with their own. After two decades in the employee benefits and financial services industry, Chris returned to the business to bring a more transparent, strategic, and employer-first approach to benefits planning.
Christopher received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is an adjunct professor of business at the University of Denver. He is also a published author and a trusted voice on leadership, character, and entrepreneurship. Most notably, he built one of the most successful employee benefits firms in the country, consulting with hundreds of corporate clients and business executives along the way.
Chris has served on the advisory council for one of the largest and fastest-growing insurance brokerage firms in the world. Through Expand Benefits, he now leverages his experience to help employers understand the full range of options available to them and navigate increasingly complex benefit decisions.
Guiding Principles
At Expand Benefits, we believe employee benefits should be genuinely beneficial—for both employers and the people they serve. Too often, benefits are complicated, misunderstood, or misaligned with the real needs of a workforce. Most employers are largely unaware of the breadth of options available when it comes to employee benefits. As costs rise and complexity increases, many are searching for more creative and innovative solutions—but aren’t sure where to start. We serve as a strategic partner, helping employers navigate their options with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
We partner with organizations to design and manage benefit solutions that support long-term financial well-being, compliance, and sustainability. By focusing on thoughtful plan design, employee education, and ongoing support, we help employers move beyond “checking the box” and toward benefits that truly make an impact.
Options. Experience. Service.
Many organizations have watched the benefits industry shift away from the customer, as scale, automation, and consolidation have often come at the expense of service and relationships. Employers are frequently left navigating rising costs and critical decisions with limited guidance or support. Expand Benefits was created to bring customer service back to the forefront—providing responsive, hands-on partnership, clear communication, and a level of care that puts the employer and their employees first.
